Meet Spencer Smith. Manager Extraordinaire.
Since joining Transcend in 2012 as practice manager of our Houston office, Spencer’s unique leadership style and strong clinical acumen have played an important role in the explosive growth in Texas and beyond. His Texas team of clinicians provide care to patients from College Station to Beaumont and Galveston to Huntsville. Spencer also oversees satellite offices in Clearlake and Kingwood and recently launched our newest full-time office in Katy Texas. Our Missouri team reaches counties as far as Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Although Spencer enjoys seeing patients of all ages and needs, he has a specific passion for treating patients with scoliosis. He finds this to be especially gratifying when this care defies the occasional misconceptions that orthotic intervention is limiting or cumbersome. There are many orthotic treatment options for both idiopathic and neuropathic scoliosis. While some situations may require more rigid orthotic intervention, this approach is rarely tolerated by patients with neuromuscular scoliosis. Fortunately, orthotic treatment and devices continue to evolve and offer innovative alternatives which Spencer applies to his treatment plans.
One solution Spencer often provides to his pediatric patients with neuromuscular scoliosis is the Surestep TLSO. In addition to more flexible plastic, this device offers a variety of modifications. These modifications can allow a patient to breathe more easily and achieve outcomes without sacrificing positioning or stability.
Spencer also enjoys mentoring our clinicians and staff and helping to foster and continue to build company culture in his region. He describes our culture as a warm family atmosphere with boundless support, drive and opportunity.
“I moved my family from Dallas to Houston due to the amazing culture and family feel to which I was introduced, and the opportunity that this company offered me.” Away from the office, Spencer spends time with his wife and two daughters. He’s also an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing every chance he gets.
