For example, on Day 1, your child should wear the helmet for a full hour and then take a break for an hour. After the hour break, put the helmet back on to wear for an hour and then take it off again for an hour. Repeat throughout the day. On Day 2, your child should wear the helmet for 2 full hours and then take a break for an hour, etc.
Care For Your Helmet
- Clean daily to prevent skin irritation. To do this, spray the inside of the helmet with clear rubbing alcohol. Inexpensive spray bottles work well.
- Allow the helmet to dry. Then, using a damp washcloth, gently scrub the inside with the same baby shampoo you use to clean your child’s head. Do not submerge the helmet or get it excessively wet.
- Wipe away any soap residue with a clean, wet washcloth. Dry the helmet inside and out with a hand towel and allow it to air dry. Do not use a hair dryer. Excessive heat can melt the foam.
- Wash your child’s head with baby shampoo while the helmet dries.
- Put the helmet back on after it and your child’s head are completely dry.

Customize Your Child’s Helmet
Instead of or in addition to a pattern, there are many other great ways to customize your child’s helmet. Typically you will find three common options:
- Bows
- Decals/stickers
- Wraps
You can also search Etsy for cranial decals or there are many websites that have great options and ideas to customize your child’s helmet.
