Appointment Process

Even in cases where a cranial remolding helmet is not recommended, we may continue monthly follow-up scans to ensure there is no further progression of the cranial and facial asymmetries.

Insurance

While each insurance is different, helmets are covered by most policies. There are some policies that expressly list cranial remolding orthoses as ‘non-covered’ items, but this is rare. There may be an out-of-pocket expense for families. This will vary depending upon how much of the annual deductible has been met, the amount of the co-insurance and the policy’s allowed amount.

With the images and measurements from your initial visit, our office will immediately begin to pursue the paperwork required to obtain preauthorization or the precertification necessary to successfully file the insurance claim. This process will move forward even if it is undecided on whether to fit your child with the remolding helmet. This is done in order to avoid delays in treatment.

Our knowledgeable staff will guide you through the process so there are no surprises.
